The Story I didn't want to tell (God will Send a Lifeline)

I am always amazed when I watch videos of people being rescued from perilous situations. I always think, "shew, at that point it doesn't matter how help comes, it only matters that it got there in time". I always stand in awe of the heroes who will put themselves in harm's way to rescue someone in trouble.

Sometimes we lose sight of the fact that Jesus left the Glory of Heaven where there was no pain or sorrow and came to this earth to rescue us when we had no hope on our own.

Why would we then think that he would let us perish in our trying times when he paid such a great price to make us his own?

God will send a lifeline, and it will not matter how it comes. It will bring you to safety and you will say it arrived just in time. It will be tailored just for you because he knows you and loves you that much.

During one of the hardest times during my husband's sickness God sent a lifeline in the form of a song by Lauren Daigle. I was so exhausted I didn't have the energy to pray, and my mind was just a cloud of fog. I didn't know how I was going to face the next day and the next.

I put the song "Hold on to me" on repeat, and I laid back on my bed and every word of this song spoke to my heart. For that few hours I quit trying to hold on and I let the Lord hold on to me. It was like I laid down in a love that was so deep and healing that peace flooded the whole room. I took deep breaths, and it felt like he was sending me the sweetest most refreshing breath I had ever taken.

The last words of the song say, "I could rest here in your arms forever, because I know nobody loves me better."

At that moment I knew that and there is a comfort in knowing that which cannot be told. How do you tell of a compassion and power that meets you in your lowest point and makes you want to go on? How can you explain how with no outward change your whole self feels renewed.

Can I tell you, that nobody knows you like him. He knows the thoughts that you keep in the depths of your heart, he knows your secret fears and the times you don't feel like enough. He knows the times expectation weigh you down. He knows your fears and doubts and even your darkest dark and still He loves you more than anyone else ever could. When you slam doors, he has opened, when you don't think you are worth it anymore... He still loves you.

And he loves you so much that he will show up.

And He will rescue you. (Another song of Laurens that is totally worth the listen when you are struggling.)

Sometimes we find ourselves as lost as someone in the middle of the ocean. We feel just as alone, just as exhausted and afraid. And just like that person, there is nothing we can do to help ourselves. This world will walk out on you. Your flesh will fail. Your mind will grow weary. And your faith will be tried as by fire. But remember this, He will come rescue you. He is no stranger to the fire, or the flood or the voice of the enemy. And his love will come for you. His Word will find you. His Spirit will bring you back to life. And Joy will come in the morning!
